Each dental crown restoration performed at Richard J. Gawarzewski DMD, PA is intended to replace the entire tooth enamel layer of a distressed tooth. This generally requires two separate appointments. The first session involves removing the entire tooth enamel layer to prepare an anchoring abutment. Then it will be protected by a temporary crown that is made from hard plastic while our dental lab technician works to create your final crown.
As you go about each day, it’s important to be mindful of the fact that a temporary crown is not as functional as a new crown. It’s best to avoid chewing gum or eating sticking or hard foods on that side of your mouth. This could potentially pull the crown loose or crack the hard plastic.
If your temporary crown feels loose or if it is damaged in any way, you should not hesitate to call 856-767-0053 to have it treated at our clinic.
If you’ve suffered some form or oral trauma and there’s blood and debris in your mouth, you can gently rinse them away with a little lukewarm saltwater. This will give you a clear view of the abutment and allow you to assess the situation.
You shouldn’t attempt any other cleaning measures as this could potentially damage the sensitive abutment. Any other necessary measures should be left to the highly trained dental staff at Richard J. Gawarzewski DMD, PA.
If you live in the Berlin, New Jersey, area and you are having trouble with a temporary crown, you should not delay in calling 856-767-0053 to seek care from Dr. Richard J. Gawarzewski.
